Shabbaton with Rabbi Yerachmiel Fried, shlita
Very Exciting News!
Congregation Toras Chaim is very pleased to announce that the esteemed Rosh Kollel of DATA, Rabbi Yerachmiel Fried, shlita , will present a series of engaging and meaningful talks this coming Shabbos, May 16-17, 2008, in our shul.
The theme of the shabbaton is The Days of Sefira: Preparing for Receiving the Torah. Talks will include:
- Shabbos morning after kiddush — The 60th Anniversary of the State of Israel: What Does It Really Mean For Us?
- Shabbos afternoon one hour before mincha – The Need for the Second Day of Shavuos: A Halachic and Philosphical Perspective into the Meaning of Yom Tov and the Thinking of Our Sages
- Shalosh Seudos — Lag B’Omer: Its Real Mystical Significance
Rabbi Fried will also speak Friday night between mincha and maariv and Shabbos morning after the Torah reading. We have been trying to get Rabbi Fried for some time. Hashem decided now is the time. This promises to be the perfect preparation for the upcoming Yom Tov of Shavuos.
There is no cost for the shabbaton. We look forward to welcoming everyone in shul
If you would like to help sponsor kiddush and/or shalosh seudos, please call Shalom Abrams at 903-918-9650.
Please call Rabbi Yaakov Rich at 972-248-1324 or Shalom Abrams at 903-918-9650 if you need help finding sleeping and/or meal arrangements for Shabbos.

Rabbi Fried is wonderful and a great speaker. He is also very funny in a dry sort of way. This should be a fabulous weekend. Thanks for letting me know. I will try to attend.

Dear Rabbi Rich:
Your new format is so much easier. I actually do not have a personal website, but put it in because it would not previously accept my comments without the space filled in. Did not know what else to do.
Thanks,
Marilyn
Looking forward to seeing you. We would love to have you for dinner if you are in shul Friday night.
I’m glad it is working for you.
Dear Rabbi:
Shabbat dinner sounds just wonderful and I will come to Shul before. I do need your address and directions to your house so that I can coordinate myself properly. What time are services starting, etc?
Marilyn
Services start at 7 PM and end at approximately 8 PM. We will leave for dinner afterwards. Our address is 7119 Bremerton Ct., Dallas 75252, but we will walk home together.
