Hodu – Mizmor L’Sodah - The first 29 verses of Hodu are from Divrei Ha-Yamim (Chronicles), and the remainder is comprised of selections from Tehillim (Psalms). Mizmor L’Sodah (Psalm 100) is omitted on Erev Yom Kippur, Erev Pesach, and Chol Ha-Moed Pesach.

Y’hi Chevod – Kol Haneshama – The Y’hi Chevod is composed of verses from Tehillim. Ashrei through Kol Haneshama comprise the last six chapters of Psalms, numbers 145 through 150.

Baruch Hashem – Az Yashir – The final section of Pesukei D’zimra. Baruch Hashem contains verses from Psalms. Vayevarech David contains verses from Divrei HaYamim I (First book of Chronicles), and Atah Hu is taken from the book of Nehemiah. The concluding selection, Az Yashir, from the book of Shemot (Exodus), is the prayer of thanksgiving recited after the crossing of the Red Sea.

Yishtabach – Barchu – The Yishtabach prayer marks the conclusion of Pesukei D’zimra, and is followed by the half-Kaddish and Barchu.

Shema – Ga’al Yisrael – Some recite the last two words of this blessing –“Ga’al Yisroel” out loud. Some sing it softly. Follow the custom of your congregation.

Amidah 1- The first part of the Shemoneh Esrei, from the Avot section through the Kedusha. In the summer months, from Passover until Shmini Atseret, Mashiv Ha-Ruach is not recited.

Amidah 2 – The second part of the Shemoneh Esrei, from the end of Kedusha until R’tzei. In the Barech Aleinu blessing, the phrase V’ten Beracha is recited in the spring and summer seasons. During the winter, the phrase V’ten Tal UMatar is substituted.

Ya’aleh V’yavo – This selection is said on Rosh Chodesh, Chol Ha-Moed Pesach, and Chol Ha-Moed Sukkot and is chanted between R’tzei and V’techezena. While the recording uses the term ‘Rosh Chodesh’, the words ‘Chag Ha-Matzot’ or ‘Chag Ha-Sukkot’ should be inserted during Passover and Sukkot, respectively.

Amidah 3 – The third part of the Shemoneh Esrei, from R’tzei until the conclusion. Please note that on Rosh Chodesh, Chol Ha-Moed Pesach, and Chol-Hamoed Sukkot, Ya’aleh V’yavo (track 16) is recited after R’tzei and before Modim. In Israel, the kohanim recite the Birkat kohanim, the priestly blessing, after the blessing of ‘Ha-Tov Shimcha’. The Chazzan leads the Kohanim by reciting each line of Birkas Kohanim which is then repeated by the Kohanim in the same manner as is done on the major holidays outside of Israel.

Tachanun - On Mondays and Thursdays, the longer form of Tachanun, beginning with V’hu Rachum, is said. The shorter Tachanun is recited on the other days of the week. Tachanun is not said on Jewish holidays, various special occasions, and in a house of mourning during the Shiva.

Half Kaddish

Y’hi Ratzon – Before the Torah is returned to the Ark, on Mondays and Thursdays, the chazzan recites the following prayer. It is not said on days when Tachanun is not recited.
