Caring for Elderly Parents: From a Torah Perspective

Caring for Elderly Parents: From a Torah Perspective
Support Group in Formation

Join Debi Weiner, Coordinator of Gerontology Services of Jewish Family Service as we grapple with our responsibility to care for aging parents from a Torah perspective.

Some of the information covered will be of a general nature including: powers of attorney, legal matters, services available, financial planning, and taking care of ourselves. In addition to addressing these important topics, the group will discuss different scenarios in which halachic decision-making and religious guidance may be needed (Shabbos/Yom Tov, Kashrus, End of Life Decisions, etc.). Recognizing the diversity that exists even within the observant community, this group will strive to raise overall awareness of these issues while encouraging participants to seek specific guidance from their own shul rabbi, where appropriate. Lastly, the group will discuss different resources available to the Torah-observant community, both locally and nationally.

  • When: Tuesday, March 12, 7:30 PM
