Shavuos arrives Motzei Shabbos and one of the ways that Jews all over the world prepare for the Giving of the Torah is to stay awake all night in order to show Hashem that we are deserving and ready to receive it. In keeping with that tradition, Congregation Toras Chaim is pleased to offer it’s 7th Annual All-Night Shavuos Learning, for men & women, this coming Saturday night, May 23rd, 2015. Congregation Toras Chaim is so pleased to welcome three guest speakers from out of town for the Shavuos Yom Tov:
- Mrs. Leah Schiermeyer: Author of A Simple Twist of Faith. In this book Mrs. Schiermeyer recounts her intense journey from Christianity to observant Judaism with honesty, emotion, and humor. She is a regular speaker for Aish HaTorah, and will be addressing the congregation two times over Yom Tov. 1) A Simple Twist of Faith: How did a Baptist, country girl like me, raised in the Bible Belt, become an observant Jew? Sunday, 7:00 PM at CTC for men & women; 2) Living as a Jew, (over 10 years later): The Struggles, the Challenges, and the Triumphs. Monday, 7:00 PM at CTC for men & women.
- Dr. Yedidyah Schiermeyer: Emergency Room doctor and public speaker. Thoughtful and philosophical with a passion for history. He will address the congregation two times over Yom Tov. 1) Iyov (Job): What can a Jew learn from a non-Jew? Saturday, 8:30 PM at CTC for men & women, between Mincha & Maariv; 2) Christianity: How it All Began? (According to R. Yaakov Emden), Sunday, 8:20 PM at CTC for men & women, between Mincha & Maariv.
- Rabbi Dovid Bacharach: Rebbi in Yeshivas Ohr HaTorah in Baltimore, and Rabbi & Rebbetzin Rich’s son-in-law. He will teaching two classes on Megillas Rus during the all-night Shavuos learning. See all-night learning schedule below for classes.
