Expanded Job Services at Jewish Family Service

Beginning January 19th, Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas, located at 5402 Arapaho Rd, Dallas, TX 75248 will offer expanded resources to people looking for work. Networking/support groups will be led by a professional/guest facilitator.  These groups are “drop-in,” open to the public, and there is no charge.  Meeting dates and locations for January and February are indicated in the articles below.

In addition to these groups, they are continuing the Employment Resource Group that meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jewish Family Service office. This group features employment speakers followed by an opportunity to network.

EXPANDED JOB-LEAD ACCESS
Of equal importance, Jewish Family Service will post job leads on their website beginning Monday, January 19.

FOR PEOPLE UNEMPLOYED FOR 1 YEAR OR LONGER
Jewish Family Service professional staff or guest facilitators will provide a safe environment for meaningful and aggressive networking sessions that will include identifying transferable skills for new career options.

  • When:  Weekly, Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 am, beginning January 19th
  • Where:  Jewish Family Service, 5402 Arapaho Rd.
  • Facilitator: Don Carter, Jewish Family Service Employment Specialist

FOR PEOPLE UNEMPLOYED FOR LESS THAN 1 YEAR
Jewish Family Service professional staff will work with newly unemployed people to help them understand the job market; prepare, organize and execute a successful search; identify transferable skills for new career options; and manage the trauma of losing a job.

  • When: Weekly, Monday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. beginning January 19th
  • Where: Jewish Family Service, 5402 Arapaho Road
  • Facilitator: Don Carter

FOR RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES SEEKING EMPLOYMENT
Jewish Family Service professional staff will assist new college graduates to develop networking strategies, understand the job market, and execute a successful job search.

  • When: First and third Mondays of each month, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. beginningJanuary 19th
  • Where: Jewish Community Center, 7900 Northaven Road
  • Facilitator:  TBA

FOR PEOPLE 55+ SEEKING EMPLOYMENT
Jewish Family Service professional staff will provide meaningful and aggressive networking sessions to help participants address the challenge of “What do I do now?” as a job seeker with extensive employment history and/or life experience.

  • When:  Second and fourth Mondays of the month from 3:30 to 5:00 pm beginning January 26th.
  • Where:  Congregation Shearith Israel, 9401 Douglas
  • Facilitator:  TBA.
