Minyan Commitment

To the men of Congregation Toras Chaim (members and friends):

We are actively trying to capture and continue the excitement we recently experienced during our past SEED program.

A daily minyan is an integral part of every congregation, and attending such a minyan is necessary for one’s Torah development. To that end we are asking, wherever possible, for each of you to commit to attending two morning services (Shacharis) and two evening services (Mincha/Maariv) each week. This will greatly strengthen the shul and your personal growth in Torah.

  • Morning services are M-F (6:40 AM-ouch! I know it is early :-) and Sunday (8:00 AM)
  • Evening services are Sun-Th (8:10 PM this week and getting earlier by about 5 min. each week.

Please pick two morning services and two evening services (not including Shabbos of course) and email me [email protected] your choices so we can begin to set up a calendar of minyanaires and ensure that our shul will always be a viable place to daven.

To those without minyan experience (even if you have never put on tefillin in your life): This email is for you too. Congregation Toras Chaim is warm and inviting place to learn Torah and pray. I and other well versed members of our shul will always be available to help with a davening roadmap, directions when you’re lost, or a helping hand in putting on your tefilling until you are comfortable. Don’t hesitate to call me 972-248-1324  or email me [email protected] to discuss any concerns.

It is an awsome feeling when the shul as whole can grow together. Making a commitment to our daily minyan will enable this to happen. Please note: Consider your days very carefully, as this is a commitment and people in the minyan will be relying on you. So please make every effort to attend on time on the days you have selected.

By the way, you are not limited to two days a week, this is just the minimum to ensure that we will always have at least ten men at every minyan.

Warmest regards,

Rabbi Yaakov Rich

  1. I forgot what prayers to do in the morning as a woman, and I don’t think I ever learned what to say at night.
Could we have a class on that?

    Marcy,

Mrs. Suri Rosenblatt is currently giving a class on just this topic in the shul. She was away for a few weeks but will be starting up again this coming week. Please see the shul website http://www.toraschaimdallas.org/classes for the details. I believe it is Tuesday’s at 8 PM at the shul. She only had two or three classes before going away on vacation, so you haven’t missed that much.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Yaakov Rich
