What
Sha-Rone Kushnir [1. Sha-Rone Kushnir, reknowned critically acclaimed pianist, said to be one of the most gifted interpretive pianists in the world, was born in Israel of Russian immigrants, and raised in South Africa where he was trained as a classical pianist from the age of six. He graduated from the Wits University in Johannesburg with a degree in Piano Performance as well as Drama and Film, and upon immigrating to the United States in 1996, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated in 2000 with a degree in Film Scoring and Composition. Presently living in Los Angeles, he tours with rising chassidic star Benny Friedman, nephew of Avram Fried, performed and recorded with noted Jewish celebrity Sam Glaser, and has appeared numerous times on the Chabad Telethon, where his original piano music accompanies the Rebbe’s documentary video. He has appeared in numerous recordings in the Jewish world, including Rabbi David Sudaley’s “A World Unseen” produced by Jeffrey Silverman (Les Miserables, Yani) and produced his own CD of Musical Meditations called “Sons of the Highest” with trumpeter Josh Friedman. 

Sha-Rone (otherwise known as Sol Rey) performs the standard classical repertoire, his own original compositions, and does his very own and unique interpretations of songs ranging from pop to Jazz, Film, and Broadway, but is best known for his reinterpretations of Chassidic and Jewish melodies. Most recently he received a full scholarship from the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity to attend their International Summer Academy of Music in Michelstadt Germany where under their auspices he performed works of the Klezmer repertoire to standing ovations. His music has appeared in documentaries on Television in France, Johannesburg South Africa, and the United States. His compositions range from electronic dance music to acoustic Rock, as well as classical ensemble orchestral works. Not only does he perform for the strictest Orthodox crowds, concerts, events, and fund raisers, but in the night-life scene he regularly performs his commercial dance music appealing to the souls of mankind everywhere.

Over the years he received commissions from local California Ballet companies and the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity to compose various works for small dramatic ensembles and piano. He has performed the Holy Alte Rebbe’s Niggun for weddings in Toronto and New York, as well as L.A., and Paris, France.
 
Joining Sha-Rone will be Drummer Raul Valdes, Bass player Mick Cervino, and Guitarist Niklas Schönbeck: Born in the small province of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Raul Valdes graduated in 1995 as Instrumentalist and Percussion Professor from the National School of Music in La Habana, Cuba. He spent the next few years teaching drum set and percussion at the school while performing regularly at important jazz clubs and International music events in Cuba. His unique style and phenomenal talent earned Valdes a scholarship to study jazz in 1999 at the University of North Texas in Denton under the instruction of legendary jazz drummer/professor, Ed Soph. In his young career to date, Raul Valdes has already made a significant impression in the music industry, having performed at various events with world-renowned musicians such as Roy Hargrove and Greg Bissonette. Valdes played drum set regularly in Cuba with the band Grupo Perspectiva (former band of legendary trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval,) as well as with members of the Grammy-winning jazz band, Irakere (Chucho Valdes’ band.) In addition, Raul played drums and recorded with 2001 Grammy-nominated pianist, Andres Alen. After moving to the United States in 1999, Raul toured with Denton rock band, Riddle Me This for one year while living in Denton. He has instructed several drum workshops and clinics at music stores and universities throughout the U.S. Valdes played percussion in the very popular salsa band, Havana NRG! for two years, and he parted ways with the band in November of 2003. Raul has performed with various local groups/musicians, including jazz harpist Carlos Guedes, top 40 bands TOP, Big Daddy, and The Factory, and also performs regularly with his own jazz quartet. Raul has most recently been performing clinics showcasing the release of his new book, Melodic Drumming, which is an instructional book of exercises for advanced drummers. In every project and venture, Raul Valdes gives his own unique flavor and charisma, and he continues to impress and mesmerize fans and musicians alike.
 
Mick Cervino started playing guitar at age seven, taking private lessons in his native Buenos Aires, Argentina, and continuing his musical education at Conservatorio Juan Jose Castro, taking Music Theory and Classical guitar. He followed his musical training at EMBA (Escuela de Musica de Buenos Aires), learning electric bass guitar and expanding his knowledge of music theory.  At age 16 Mick was already going on tours with recording artist Victor Heredia in Argentina, performing on national television shows and recording hit records. He also recorded, performed and toured with EMI, RCA, and CBS artists in Argentina and Spain. In the UK Mick recorded and toured with Jazz Rock band One Hand Clapping, reaching #4 in England’s Indie charts.  In 1997 Mick joined guitar legend Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow) on his project “Blackmore’s Night”, recording and touring Japan, Europe, and the USA. Mick went on to record his critically acclaimed Bass Solo CD “Ostinato”, a Classical album which includes compositions by Bach, Mozart, Chopin as well as some of Mick’s own compositions.  In 2001 through 2007 Mick joined another guitar legend, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, touring the world and participating on the Platinum seller “Live In Denver” CD/DVD with G3 (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen).  Currently Mick has released an album with his own band Violent Storm called “Storm Warning”, which features guest musicians KK Downing of Judas Priest, and Yngwie Malmsteen.

Professional Guitarist Niklas Schönbeck is highly skilled in Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Pop, Metal, and other styles.  He attended a music high school in Oskarshamn, Sweden, the famous Guitar Institute in Hollywood, California, and graduated with a Jazz studies degree from The University of North Texas in Denton, where he was awarded a Jazz Guitar Scholarship.   He has studied music with some of the greatest teachers including Scott Henderson, Dan Gilbert, and Joe Diorio. Niklas is the founder of Steamhouse Productions, a commercial music company. Among his many achievements Niklas has been the Band Leader and Musical Director for many bands and music groups, and has performed with famous musicians such as Norah Jones, Russ Ferrante (of Yellowjackets), and Leni Stern. He has opended for many famous bands and celebrities including Foreigner, The Neville Brothers, Pat Green, Chubby Checker, The Pointer Sisters, Gary Allan, Chris Botti, Jay Leno, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dana Carvey, Wayne Brady, Richard Elliot, and K.C. And The Sunshine Band.  ‘Nick’ is currently the guitar player for the sold-out band TOP.] , one of the most gifted interpretive pianists in the world, is coming to Dallas for an uplifting, unforgettable concert on March 15th 2009.
