Dear Dallas Community,
Miri Morgenstern was an important member of the Dallas community for many years who is now living in Israel. Her husband, Aryeh Boaz (aka Gilbert “Bo” Wilcox), is a convert to Judaism who has since ceased any Jewish practice. Three years ago, he moved back to Texas, and now is holding Miri hostage to their dead marriage by refusing to give her a Get. This is an egregious abuse of the halachic system to torture another person. Assiduous efforts have been made by numerous Rabbis, both locally and out of town, to convince him to grant Miri a get, yet these have so far proven unsuccessful. Please see the attached letter from Rabbi Mordechai Wolmark, a mesader Gittin in Monsey, New York who has been involved in the case, urging our community to do whatever we can to help free Miri.
On Sunday, September 15, a protest will take place near the residence of Gilbert Wilcox in Burleson, TX. It is imperative that our community shows up, and demonstrates that Get abuse will not be tolerated in our midst. The protest will be on public property, with police protection as well as private security. Please see the above flier for details.
Sincerely,
