Dear friends,
Our Sages teach that a characteristic of Jewish people is our ability to empathize with the suffering of family and friends. Together we are one body. Your pain is my pain, and mine is your, because we are inseparable.
As you read this, one of ours is in pain, great pain. A young girl is lying in a hospital bed, with her parents at her side, not knowing if she will live out the week.
Since the age of seven, Valerie Mason has been fighting various forms of cancer. She is still fighting, but time is not on her side. Valerie needs our help, her parents need our help, and we need to help.
At 8 PM, tomorrow evening, Wednesday, January 30, Jews from all over Dallas are asked to gather at Chabad of Plano, 3904 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX (just east of Coit). Together, we will watch a professionally made video depicting the true nature of Valerie’s struggle and the pain of parents who are forced to endure an only daughter’s suffering. We will then say Tehillim (Psalms) that Hashem may grant Valerie a refuah shelaima (a speedy recovery). Lastly, everybody will be asked to make a financial contribution to help the Masons in their hour of need.
G-d forbid we should ever know of such pain in our own lives, but if we do, at least we will be able to say to Hashem, “I did everything I could to save one of Your children. Please save mine.”
Please be prepared to open your hearts and your wallets.
For men and women, teen through adult. 8-9 PM, Wednesday, January 30 at Chabad of Plano, 3904 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX (just east of Coit). Please make every effort to come.
Sincerely
Rabbi Yaakov Rich
Congregation Toras Chaim
