Dear members and friends of CTC:
Â
Floating conspicuously on the right side of the CTC website is a bulbous, oversized thermometer. It monitors the temperature of our Land Fund, which right now is dangerously low. Let me explain. Two years ago with fiscal responsibility foremost on our minds, we set aside a bank account independent of our general fund, in order to pay the monthly mortgage on the land we own across the street from the shul. It was funded by monthly commitments from members and friends of CTC totaling $800. For a variety of reasons, many of those who were contributing towards that $800 are no longer doing so. As it currently stands, the Land Fund is able to cover only $240 per month toward the total cost of the mortgage. At this rate, by February 1, 2010, the land account will no longer be solvent, and we will have to fund the land completely from our general fund.
Â
As a young shul, we decided against having a mandatory building fund and instead created this voluntary Land Fund account. To that end, I am asking that each family or individual associated with the shul consider a voluntary monthly contribution towards the land account. If we all share in the effort of maintaining our hold on that valuable piece of property, with Hashem’s help, we may all see the fruits of our efforts realized by laying a cornerstone for our new building on this land in 2010.
I would ask that each family consider contributing a minimum of $36 per month. The monthly contribution can be made with a credit card through our Charity Box payment module on the Donation Page (be sure to indicate in the Special Instructions section that this is for the land account), recurring payments through your online bill-pay, or with post-dated checks. Please speak with me if you would like to make an alternative arrangement for helping the shul at this critical time, as I want everybody in our shul to feel the pride of doing their part.
Â
We all look forward, with the help of Hashem, to the day when we will all be davening in our beautiful, new building on Hillcrest Ave. Please help us all to make this dream a reality.
Â
Best Regards,
