Rabbi Yaakov Tannenbaum
Yaakov Tannenbaum has served the past three years with Shaare Tefillah Community Kollel and as Rosh Beit Midrash. In addition, he has served as Judaics teacher at Akiba academy, teaching Talmud and Oral Law.
Rabbi Tannenbaum was born and raised in the Hassidic enclave of Williamsburgh, Brooklyn. As a child he attended a Hassidic Cheder, where his grandfather was Head Master. He later attended advanced Jewish Studies Schools, including the academy of renowned Halachic authority Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, from whom he received the Rabbinical ordination, and in whose Kollel he studied three years.
In addition, he received a Masters Degree in sociology from Long Island University and did work towards a PHD at the New School of Social Research. He served three decades as Director of Technical Services at a New York City publishing house before he and they fell victim to a slowing economy and the changing face of book publishing.
For years he gave regular classes at the famed Breuer Kehillah in Washington Heights.
He and his wife, Rachel, are the proud parents of four children, two of whom live here in Dallas, and twelve grandchildren.
