A Message from Perl Schwartz, Wine Expert for this Event:

The Chines Philosopher Confucius said “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day I your life.”

First, I want to tell you little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Brooklyn where I still live today. I am a mother of seven beautiful children, and they are a true source of love and pride for me.

When I was in the sixth grade I remember my father telling me, “Oh it doesn’t matter what job you get in the school play. What’s important is that you immerse yourself completely in what you do, to the point where you become a true expert at your job, and you begin to talk about it with joy and passion. Even if you’re the curtain puller, you be the best, most powerful, most thankful curtain puller in the United States of America.”

I think I must have taken my father’s message very much to heart, because when I got into the wine industry over twenty years ago, I became so completely immersed in my work, wine education became part of my daily work schedule. I researched, I interviewed vintners, I read widely, I attended wine events … I was determined to develop a knowledgebase wide enough, so I can provide knowledgeable service to my customers. I haven’t stopped learning for over 20 years now. Because for me it has become an art that I care to cultivate and perfect. And yes, true to my father’s advice back in the sixth grade, I talk about my work with real joy and passion. I hope that I can provide for you the best, most powerful, most memorable wine tasting experience!
