Prepare for Pesach: Appoint Rabbi Yaakov Rich to Sell Your Chometz

As Pesach approaches, one of the important halachic responsibilities is ensuring that all chometz is properly disposed of or sold in accordance with halacha. To help facilitate this process for the community, Rabbi Yaakov Rich will be available beginning Sunday, March 22, for those who wish to appoint him as their agent for Mechiras Chometz (the sale of chometz).

Appointing a rabbi as your agent allows your chometz to be halachically sold to a non-Jew for the duration of Pesach, ensuring full compliance with Torah law while avoiding unnecessary loss.

What You Need to Do

  • Reach out to Rabbi Rich starting Sunday, March 22. Text or call (972) 835-6016 to confirm availability.
  • Complete a simple authorization form (shtar harsha’ah)
  • Clearly designate any chometz that will remain in your possession over Pesach

Why This Matters

Owning chometz on Pesach is a serious prohibition. Through the process of Mechiras Chometz, your chometz is legally and halachically transferred, giving you peace of mind as you prepare for Yom Tov.

Plan Ahead

Don’t wait until the last minute. Taking care of your chometz early helps ensure a smoother, more focused preparation for Pesach—allowing you to enter the Yom Tov with clarity and simcha.

For more information or to schedule a time, please contact Rabbi Yaakov Rich directly.

Wishing you and your family a kosher and joyful Pesach!
