- MARRIAGE Jewish marriage is not merely a secular legal partnership, but a union sanctified by Hashem. Marital obligations, therefore, are not merely personal, but have implications for universal harmony. The existence of Hashem as a “silent partner” in Jewish marriage endows a relationship with sanctity and solemn commitment.
- CHILDREN Picture respectful, responsible, obedient children who entertain themselves without television or video games, do their own homework, and have impeccable manners. A pie-in-the-sky fantasy? Not so. Any parent who so desires can grow children who fit that description—happy, emotionally-healthy children who honor their parents and their families with good behavior and do their best in school and yeshiva, making you, the Jewish people and Hashem proud.
- PARENTS Honoring parents is the ultimate expression of appreciation. This mitzvah does not depend on what your parents did for you, or even whether they were good parents. Rather, we honor parents simply because they gave us the gift of life.
This year, the Shabbatonim, Shiurim, and Speeches will focus on the development of these three pillars of family life, with the hope that with constancy and consistency in learning these topics we will grow in our relationships to live fuller, happier and more meaningful lives.
